I ran across this sketch today in a package of information about the history of General Motors’ Warren Technical Center.

There it is right there in the middle of the central lake.  This sketch (and a corresponding model) were created in 1949 during the design of the campus.  A later model developed in 1951, shows the tall fountain in it’s place due to a lack of GM funds.

You can make out faint grid lines on the sketch implying that the proposed Administration Building would reflect the design vocabulary of the R&D Building to the north (left on the sketch) and the Design Center to the south (right on the sketch).

If anyone has any other images of this part of the campus, please drop me a line.

An enlarged higher resolution image is below.  Warning – It is a big one so be patient.
