Construction of a new Quicken Loans headquarters building is anticipated to begin mid-2013 according to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
Potential locations have been narrowed down to two sites. The first is the former Hudson’s building site (adjacent to Compuware) and the Monroe Block, which was the site of the previously proposed, and now defunct, Cadillac Center. Gone from the list is the old Statler Hotel site that had been previously considered.
The first phase of the project consists of Quicken Loans relocating at least 1000 employees into the Compuware building to activate generous incentives (outlined in this article) followed by starting construction of the headquarters building in mid-2013.
