Detroit recently celebrated as the Westin Book-Cadillac was restored after years of sitting prominently vacant at the south end of Washington Boulevard.  Unfortunately, just up the street, the Book Building, another Pre-Depression Era trophy, is now 100% vacant.

AKNO Enterprises of Canada, who bought the building in August, is behind on utility payments.  So far in fact that DTE and DWSD will be disconnecting their services from the building.  The last remaining tenant, Bookies Downtown Tavern, closed their doors last night.
