Just over a year ago, the Book Tower was vacant and its then current owner was behind on utility payments. So far, in fact, that electrical and water utilities had been disconnected.

Quicken Loans has approached the DEGC for an option on the Monroe Block as a possible site for a downtown headquarters.
The economic downturn has possibly forced Quicken Loans to downsize it’s plans from 4,000 to 1,500 employees shifting their search from a new large tower to possibly leasing space in an existing building.
