Post image for Rosa Parks Transit Center

Since the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC) first announced this project in 2005, little visible progress was made on this project. However, in February 2007, the DEGC announced that a construction contract was awarded for the terminal. Construction will begin in March 2007 with the facility complete by July 2008 2009 (due to delays in constructing the tensile roof structure).

The facility incorporates a soaring tensile canopy that picks up on similar public space themes present at Chene Park and soon to be built portions of the Detroit Riverfront.

I was planning on taking the Mega Bus this Sunday. Is there an overnight garage near by where I can park my car for one night? If so, where and how much?

Thank you.

I am planning a Megabus trip shortly and having same problem as far as parking is concerned. Did you ever find a safe place to leave your car overnight? Thanks so much.

There are two close options:
1) Park-Rite Trolley Plaza Garage, Washington Boulevard, 313-965-3111
$6.00 per day
2) Westin Book-Cadillac Parking Garage, Michigan Avenue, 313-442-1600
$10 to get out. The attendant was real clear that you could park your car for a couple days and only pay the $10 once. You may want to call and confirm.

I was going to take a megabus from Pittsburgh to Detroit and then rent a car from Detroit to Chicago. Are there any car rentals near the Megabus stop at the Rosa Parks Transit Center? It would be very informative. Thanks!

There’s nothing right next door to the transit center, but the closest is Enterprise in the GM Renaissance Center (100 Renaissance Ctr Suite 1108, Detroit, MI 48243 – (313) 259-3946). It’s a short ride away on the people mover which you can board at either the Times Square or Michigan Avenue station. They are both about a block away from the transit center.
